With over a decade of experience as a documentary filmmaker and more than two decades as an art director / creative director in the advertising industry, Jon Bunning is a seasoned creative pro. 

In 2017, Bunning’s captivating film, "THE TABLES," made its premiere at the acclaimed Ashland Independent Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Short Documentary. “THE TABLES” went on to win over a dozen top prizes and screened at several prestigious festivals including DOC NYC, Nashville Film Festival, and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Oscar® qualifying Florida Film Festival. It continues to charm audiences all around the globe.

In recent years Bunning has directed commercial films for Google, Samsung and Uber. Before filmmaking, he began his advertising career at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky in Miami as an art director where he produced exciting work for MINI, Ikea, Virgin Atlantic and Giro. His talent brought him to New York as a creative director on some of the world’s biggest brands such as Coco-Cola, Heineken, Ford and The Wall Street Journal.

Bunning has freelanced his creative talents at some of the top agencies in the country including Google Devices & Services, Ogilvy, Media Arts Lab, Mother, Preacher, B-Reel, Havas, Huge, Joan, Fig, Arnold, Co:Collective, Johannes Leonardo, Publicis, KBS, Martin Agency, McCann, McGarryBowen, Saatchi & Saatchi, Sid Lee and 360i.

Growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, Bunning was an avid long distance runner and was inspired by Nike commercials to pursue a path in advertising. After finishing college at the University of Nebraska and a summer internship at Bozell, he attended VCU Adcenter where he had a transformative experience as a graduate assistant for Jelly Helm. Afterwards he was chosen for a summer internship at Wieden + Kennedy New York.

When Bunning isn't working he can be found on the pickleball court and traveling around the world with his camera in search of outdoor adventure – hiking, snowboarding, camping, fishing, canoeing, biking and running.
